About Us

Here, at the Arabian Rescue our mission is twofold:

  • To rescue, rehabilitate and place horses who have been neglected, abused or are unwanted in permanent, loving, responsible forever homes.
  • To educate people in the care, nutrition         and responsibility of horse ownership and  the commitiment that relationship                  requires.

We do things a little differently here at the Arabian Rescue. First of all, not one of us takes a paycheck. Our personal incomes directly feed and house the horses. 100% of that donation of all donatins coming in go directly to the horses.

CJ and I both run businesses and all net profits from those companies support the deficit between operating costs and actual donations. We both whole-heartedly believe in what we are doing and have put everything on the line for that cause.

We do not ask for help because we can, we ask for help because we must.

Our Goals:

Our first and foremost goal is the responsibility we owe the animals that we have domesticated. Too often that horse is forgotten or unintentionally neglected because our life situations have changed. In the wild, horses could withstand some very tough living arrangements. With domestication, we have forced changes on the horse that are contrary to its natural digestive and emotional processes. To that effect, isn't it our responsibility to see that these animals get to live their lives with the respect, dignity and love they deserve?

We, at the rescue, believe every horse deserves a job, a person and a comfortable, happy life. We strive to attain for these animals that which their owners will not or can not do for them. With donations from the private and corporate sector and proceeds from our various endeavours, we have succeeded in making that, our first goal, a reality!

Our second goal is inherently more difficult. We strive to educate people in their responsibility and commitment to providing a safe, healthy and happy environment for the animals they choose to live with. We offer advice, clinics, consulting and contractual agreements to achieve this end.

Education, in and of itself, is often difficult. People have to want to learn. In some cases a horse can be a difficult lesson, if one is not open to the experience and knowledge others have to offer. Because a horse is a living, breathing, feeling being, they are often the one hurt in this learning process.

It is our job to teach, to petition listeners and to nurture the new generation of horse owners. We will lecture if you are willing to listen, we will testify if you are willing to vote, and we will prosecute if you are willing to give.

Help us help them!

Who We Are

Terry Figueroa has been working with horses for over 40 years. As a child and young adult she worked with green horses, trained and competed in reining and western pleasure. After her marriage and corporate career, she got into Arabians getting a stallion and rescueing a mare and foal. After rehabilitation, conditioning and training, Terry and her stallion RD Tamoukir went on to show in halter, losing him to EPM at the young age of 8. By the time he passed she had 6 mares and 3 foals on the ground. Her rescued mare is still with her today and is the granddam of the farm.  Terry met and fell in love with another stallion in 1993, who was sold out from under her. Promising him, then, to find him and bring him home, she made it her personal mission to do just that. It took 10 years, but success was at hand. When his physical and living conditions were unmasked, Terry and CJ began an 11 month crusade to raise enough money to bring him and the rest of his herd home and so began the Arabian Rescue Mission.

Terry also runs a supplement business - check out www.EquiSupps.com for more information on how she can help create a customized supplement program for you, your horse or barn. With prices lower than the big guys and free shipping, these pre-dosed, pre-packaged supplements are hard to beat.

CJ Millar has a B.S. in Equestrian Studies from Centenary College and was the Training Award Recepient.  She has over 27 years of riding experience and over a decade of training experience including hunters/jumpers, dressage, eventing, racehorse training, and western rodeo events.  She has started horses under saddle, trained horses to drive, has experience as a barn manager and course designer.  She is also a member of the USEF and ARIA. Check out her barn's website located at  www.ewa-tlcstables.com

CJ has also started two new endeavours to keep her working from home and closer to the barn and horses. A consulting company handling web design and maintenance, and strategic search engine tools.

She is also booking appointments for Equi-Eval, an affordable tool in helping to pinpoint physical, mental and material needs to keep your horse(s) sane, sound and happy.
