A TRIBUTE TO MARIO!

Read his story directly to the right. In Memory of SonnyLouis (Sonny) Essington, Jr had what some might think a limited life, due to learning disabilities. However, Sonny loved and was exceptionally good with horses. Sonny worked for many years with a stable in South Jersey. We are told he was especially good at helping children learn to ride and to love horses as he did.Sonny's favorite horse was the Arabian. To honor and celebrate the life of Sonny Essington, the Jones family of NH has made a generous donation in his name, to help the horses he loved most. He may have been taken from this world, but his love and work is living on. Our sympathies to his family and friends on their loss and to the horses who will miss him.

Whether you've chosen to become a sponsor of a horse in need, make a one-time donation, or volunteer to help, here at the Arabian Rescue Mission all the horses (and people) thank you.

Want to help?  In addition to monetary donations, we're also in need of supplies and volunteers for everything from fixing fencing to building run in sheds to assisting with corporate sponsorships and government programs.  Contact Us on how you can make a difference in the life of a horse today!

        A NEW MISSION

On 6/18/09 around 6PM, we asked for help to raise money to pull 3 horses out of New Holland Auction Kill Pen. This was a joint effort between our Rescue and AC4H and all of the people on the ac4h@yahoo group, the ABR forum, myspace, facebook and our growing addressbook of supporters. Not only did we raise enough for those 3 but we were able to pick up 2 more on Monday. We thank everyone for rallying and making this possible.

    THANK YOU!

 But there are a couple of people, in particular, that are worthy of mention as their donation was quite generous and made IN MEMORY of MARIO! Terry Callahan,  Marianne Corsi and Sheryl Senczakiewicz donated money for their dear friend Karen. Karen Curry, of Cranford, NJ rescued an Arab gelding from starvation, loved and rehabilitated him and they became dear friends.

Mario was abandoned with another horse, Blinky, due to divorce. The horses were left with no food and were starving. When Blinky's former owner heard of this she immediately took custody of both horses. They were brought to the boarding frm where Karen had her other horses, also rescues. Karen became Mario's guardian angel and eventually took ownership of him. He became a companion to Karen's sister's horse, Photostat who is 31 years old and partially blind. On Friday, the 19th of June, Karen suddenly lost her MARIO to colic. His tragic death was a direct complication of lymphoma strangling his intestines. Her sudden loss is felt by all. We are sorry Karen, he will be missed by all. In loving memory!

Look back on our struggle for freedom,
Trace our present day’s strength to it’s source;
And you’ll find that man’s pathway to glory
Is strewn with the bones of a horse
